Double Gameweek 37 Review: Alexis Sanchez Baby... Gabriel Jesus Oooooh

It the always going to be the most point-laden gameweek of the season and some of us had been planning for it for weeks. The opportunity to hit a 100-plus score was difficult to turn down, so managers would have learnt to save their bench boost chip for this gameweek, but with Chelsea's attackers failing to live up to their new crown and Southampton rotating their line-ups (to the bemusement of Bertrand owners and very vocal annoyance of those with Gabbiadini in their line-up on my twitter feed), it was a much better move to use the triple captain on the favourable doubles of Alexis Sanchez, Jesus or Kevin De Bruyne. Hindsight is always a beauty in this game.

The big-hitters gave most of us a lot of satisfaction, especially owners of Alexis Sanchez, who were rewarded for their patience. After a solitary goal in 6 games his ownership plummeted, but the goal against Southampton last gameweek put Sanchez on the goal trail. A hattrick of goals and an assist from his two games and an incredible 5 bonus points from a possible 6 took him to 27 points. Captainers would have been in FPL heaven finding 54 point on the board from a single player. When Sanchez delivers, he really does.

The same can be said of Gabriel Jesus, who has scored 6 goals in his first 6 Premier League starts, along with 3 assists either side of a long-term injury lay-off. Jesus fired twice and turned provider for an easy 19 points from two games. The future looks bright for City if Jesus stays injury free, as Kevin De Bruyne or David Silva are also bang in form ahead of the final game of the season against a Watford side that have lost their last 4 on the bounce.

And, of course, Harry Kane is forgiven for his blank last gameweek after managing to score thrice against tough opponents in Man Utd and Leicester, but we are so used to seeing Kane score this season it is barely surprising. If only I'd have left that triple captain chip an extra week...
