Plans for the re-organization’s work are made by a representative assembly composed of delegates from state, territorial, and local associations. A board of directors, a board of trustees, and an executive committee, help the assembly make plans. Two national conventions are held each year. The one held in July includes the representative assembly.
The other one held in February or March includes the American Association of School Administrators and various other departments. The Association has 29 departments representing almost every professional interest in education. Publication include a monthly journal with proceedings of the conventions and material for the American Education Week and the research bulletin. Futurism was a movement that began in the Art and Literature Department that glorified the energy and emotion of the machine age and rejected the traditions of the past. Futurism painters tried to translate the sensation of temporary life into visual form.
Their favorite subjects were dance halls, speeding cars, trains, and masses of people. They gave the illusion of motion by showing all the positions a figure could be in one successive moment. The National Science Association in 1952 established the Future Scientists of America Foundation to help industries professional societies and science teachers in teaching science. This program includes awards for students and fellowship for science teachers who attend summer conferences and other services for teachers and students.
The foundation draws financial support from industries and technical societies. These sources supply counsel and advice serving to keep the programs practical and up to date. ALL HAVE HEADQUARTERS AT 1201, 16th AVENUE, NORTH WEST, WASHINGTON DC!
