Not all fouls are bad. It totally depends on when you foul & who you foul. For example, in Tuesday's game against UCLA, UConn had 15 personal fouls and UCLA had 16. Even, right..? Not quite. The Huskies took 21 free throws as a result of those 16 UCLA fouls. The Bruins, on the other hand, took just 9 free throws. UConn ended up with 17 points from the charity stripe, while UCLA only had 8. 
For the season, UConn has tried 74 free throws as a result of 71 opponent fouls. They have made 73% or 54 points. The Huskies' four opponents have only tried 41 free throws. Even though they have also made 73%, that resulted in only 30 points. UConn has 24 more points on free throws than their opponents. That is 6 more points per game. Beating the Huskies is hard enough without spotting them 6 extra freebies...
