Is The New York Time's Coverage Of The White House Decision To Leave Syria Wrong?
The Failing New York Times has knowingly written a very inaccurate story on my intentions on Syria. No different from my original statements, we will be leaving at a proper pace while at the same time continuing to fight ISIS and doing all else that is prudent and necessary!.....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 7, 2019
Daily Mail: Trump lashes out after his national security advisor John Bolton reveals slowdown in Syria withdrawal plan and claims 'we will be leaving at a proper pace'
* President Trump slammed The New York Times for what he called 'a very inaccurate story on my intentions on Syria'
* The Times reported Trump's National Security Adviser John Bolton rolled back his plan for a quick withdrawal of U.S. troops for Syria
* But Trump's own tweet led to questions about when U.S. troops will leave
* In his Dec. 19 announcement, Trump said of troops: 'They're all coming back, and they're coming back now'; he said Monday they would return at a 'proper pace'
* Bolton and defense hawks are working to leave American forces in Syria for months or even years
* But he implausibly closed the distance between himself and Trump, agreeing with the president's criticism of the Times: 'My thoughts exactly'
President Donald Trump slammed The New York Times on Monday for reporting that his National Security Adviser John Bolton had rolled back his plan for a quick withdrawal of U.S. troops for Syria.
'The Failing New York Times has knowingly written a very inaccurate story on my intentions on Syria. No different from my original statements, we will be leaving at a proper pace while at the same time continuing to fight ISIS and doing all else that is prudent and necessary!,' he tweeted.

WNU Editor: This is a perfect example on how the main stream media manipulates a news story to push their own agenda when it comes to President Trump. In December President Trump makes it very clear that he wants/wishes U.S. forces to be out of Syria ASAP. No problem with that. He stated that desire numerous times during during the Presidential election, and he has been consistent on that message for the past two years. Withdraw of U.S. forces is .... after the economy and border wall .... his third top election promise. But U.S. forces have stayed in Syria because the White House deferred to its national security advisers and commanders in the field (including Defence Secretary Mattis) that the battle against ISIS will take some time, and U.S. military forces must stay engaged. Nothing wrong with that .... it shows the White House making policies based on consensus and intelligence. Flash forward to today .... much of ISIS is now destroyed, so (from President Trump's perspective) why remain? Hence the push for withdrawal and the conditions to make it happen. Again .... nothing wrong with that. Defence Secretary Mattis had a different opinion (and one that I think was wrong) .... where he believed that U.S. forces should remain indefinitely, and resigned when he felt that he could not follow that order. Kudos to him for resigning on a principle, but again I think he is wrong. Today .... the Pentagon made official its framework to withdraw .... Framework for US Withdrawal from Syria 'Approved' (VOA), and in this framework they make it very clear that certain conditions must be met first. Again .... nothing wrong with that .... it is what any person who has a basic understanding on how diplomacy works is expected in this particular situation. And as for National Security Adviser John Bolton's remarks .... he is acting at the behest of the President, and to make it very clear to regional allies on what are the U.S. conditions for withdrawal. Again .... there is nothing wrong with that. And if John Bolton was pushing an agenda that is different from President Trump's, trust me on this one, he would be fired immediately. But according to the New York Times, John Bolton has gone rogue. So why is the New York Times pushing this narrative even though it contradicts what is happening on the ground? Sighhh .... as I have voiced numerous times in the past, the New York Times is not the newspaper that it once was.
Update #3: The New York Time's is not the only media outlet distorting the news .... Washington Post Distorts Bolton’s Statements on Trump’s Syria Policy (NRO).
